Lima Municipal Court Marriage Records

Marriage records in Lima and elsewhere provide legal proof that two people have been joined in marriage. Under Ohio Rev. Code § 3101.13, the probate court in the applicants' county of residence has exclusive jurisdiction over marriage license issuance and maintenance.

This means that, for Lima residents, the Allen County Probate Court is the official custodian of marriage records. According to Ohio Rev. Code § 3101.051, the court must make these records available to whoever requests them, provided that the couple's Social Security numbers are deleted or redacted from the records before issuance.
